No one can possibly deny we live at an extremely fast pace in our modernized world. So fast that I have at times found myself getting annoyed when a web page does not load and open in under a few seconds. Talk about living our lives in instant gratification! Who now days actually delays making those “so badly desired” purchases? Why wait when you can just whack it on a bankcard? 

It has become commonplace to hear children complaining they are BORED! Can you imagine that? Instead of being overjoyed at having time to allow their IMAGINATIONS to freely roam in play, or reading, climbing trees and amusing themselves in a million differing ways; they instead imagine themselves to be suffering boredom.  Even at their tender ages they have already slipped into the illusion that their lives are meant to be of suffering and time is an enemy. After all isn’t boredom the most tedious form of all suffering? For it is a soulless uncreative place, void of all passion and emotion- a prelude to death.

Yes most of us are indeed over-wound, over-consumed, over-entertained, over- fed, over-indulged, and over-whelmed! Well my feeling is this will all soon be OVER!  FOR TIME IS INDEED TRANSFORMING!
Many falsely believe they are time depleted and spend much of their day like laboratory rats running on tread mill following imagined schedules, battling an endlessly ticking clock.

  • Do you feel your time reservoir is stored in a well and you dip in and take out your bucket full? 
  • Or perhaps in your ego-minds belief time is likened to Captain Hooks ticking crocodile forever circling you with a predatory smile “tick, tock!”

Multi tasking is now the rage and encouraged as an admirable quality; indeed at times it is most beneficial; but does everything we do have to become a TASK and thus fall in the category of multi tasking. Often couples are so worn out from clock running and multi tasking in their over whelming worlds that there is no space left for intimacy. If your monkey brain doesn’t stop churning even during sexual intimacy; take note, you have a problem that deserves attention! Multi tasking overwhelmed egos are not capable of undivided attention, let alone stillness.

It is quite comical to be on the freeway on a Friday evening watching the drivers racing by in their cars to go and have a good time and relax. HELLO? That’s right! People race and stress themselves out to go and relax isn’t that a wee odd?  Even stranger are the health conscious power walkers with  hand weights, pounding along our ocean promenades and parks not noticing the ocean, the sunrise or hearing a bird call; is this really heath giving?

Most people spend so much time being busy, that when they are not busy they feel guilty. Then they choose to do something that allows their body to appear restful but keeps the mind busily occupied. Well I have got news for you while you are veging out this way; with your mind being assaulted by TV, video games, and computers, the body is not relaxed. Hormones are being secreted adrenalin is pumping through the body; it can not register that what’s entertaining you is not “REAL”. One can not forget that the body and mind acts as one unit? These forms of entertainment are great in moderation, but not as an addictive form of false rest; they bombard and over stimulate the mind until it is forced to shut down ~ (Before we actually blow a fuse!) How amazing it is that we’ve our own emergency overload shut down switch.

Our inner pushers have so much muscle these days and wield an over abundance of clout that forces us to swing like pendulums into duality. Ding dong, we go from inner pusher to couch potatoes just to get a little reprieve. We then dance to and fro swaying between the two trying to reach a homeostatic state. Procrastination, even total paralysis can result, although guilt is the normally preferred response. And can we ever do guilt! It now comes packaged in more flavours than ice cream!
STEP RIGHT UP LADIES AND GENTLEMEN You can choose your guilt from a huge array:
perhaps you may benefit from making your own list?
let you mind go crazy creating it-
its better than your mind going crazy from guilt.

  • Guilt because you should be here or there, or have done this or that.
  • Guilt because you ate this or didn’t eat that.
  • Guilt because you do too much for others or not enough.
  • Guilt because you put your self first or don’t.
  • Guilt about your parenting- one of my own specialities.
  • Guilt about your size or shape.
  • Guilt about your activities or lack of activity.
  • Guilt about your patterned behaviours and addictions.
  • Guilt about your ability to relate, to love~ and on and on and on it goes.

We can not move into the new world this way; riddled with inadequacy and guilt, overwhelmed and time depleted, it is neither healthy nor conscious and it’s totally unnecessary. Most teachers will say meditation is the answer, and indeed it can be; though for most it is such a huge step away from their perceived reality that it is nigh impossible. Lets be truthful, most of you who have subscribed to this RESOUNDING E-NEWS know how too and do practice meditation; but how diligent, how frequent are your own attempts. If you’re honest you will admit that you probably fall short and that’s ok! There are other ways to counter balance to achieve resonance, to be freed from suffering. Of late I have been guided to revisit an ancient practice in new ways.

That practice I call SLOW MOTION! There is a little equation

NO MOTION = CLEARED EMOTION
So what is slow motion?

Just as in the food industry there is a revolutionary return to the SLOW FOOD MOVEMENT in response to FAST FOOD INDUSTRY. Now we are called to slow motion. To behave for periods of our day like divinely inspired SLOTHS! Have you ever watched a sloth? These wonderful animals slow down the rhythm of your heart just by observing them. (That’s if you can spare the time?) What timeless grace they exist within. Their movements define slow motion, but they are focused intentional and deliberate; I would say they are truly living in the ZONE- beings living in the moment. They can teach our stressed out race a whole lot! Did you know Sloths eons ago were the size of elephants? At least it would have been easy to get out of their way! Sloths are vegetarians and eat very little, they don’t even need to drink water, defecate only once a week, and live far longer than most mammals. Make a point of watching a video of a sloth swimming they certainly won’t win any Olympic races but they are so graceful and also have such cute babies you got to see them. So what’s with all this slothful talk? Sloths live life in the sloooow lane, in what we would perceive to be slow motion; of course its not slow motion to them; one would wonder what that would actually be? Daily spending extended periods in deliberate, conscious, slow motion (being in the zone) is the secret to TRANSMUTING TIME and leads to divine TRANSFORMATION.
Buddhists, martial artists and yogi’s, often practice Walking Meditations this is one method of Slow Motion movement; it need not actually be a slow movement.  A very refined, conscious movement, combined with conscious breathing can just as easily take you into the Zone; runners, swimmers, yogis, experience this frequently. Their consciousness moves beyond the illusory confines of linear time- into the Zone.  No you don’t have to be an athlete!  Take a few slow moments and watch the sloth video; commence by mimicking the way it makes each movement- oh and you don’t have to be in a tree either, unless of course you want too hang out?

Slow motion state or the state of suspension can be in a practiced as in Chi Kung, Yoga, Tai Chi, or whilst creating art, chopping the vegetables preparing a meal, hanging up the washing, mowing the lawn, washing the floor, even sensuously and slowly showering, and on your morning walk. You need not be alone, but you need to be aware of whom you are and what you are not, who am I? Aware deliberate conscious action can transport you to the space of suspension; where time no longer exists, you are as an Astronaut floating free of gravity in the universal void. Freed from linear time!

If you are protesting I don’t have time for this; it’s all very well but I have to make a living, I have to do this or that!! Know that you are in resistance! Own your life and your life choices, take responsibility. Cut back and refine, any deliberate action can be in slow motion, it is not a matter of speed but the transference of energy awareness. You most likely have seen a martial artist chop through a pile of cement blocks with their bare hand? To you it appeared a very speedy action; but actually they were in slow motion, so in the zone that they transmuted time and energy. Scientists once believed nothing moved faster than the speed of light but of course quantum science now actually negates speed all together. Our ego-minds find it difficult to grapple with this concept but our soul knows no such bounds.

Often we learn and experience S.M.S via a great shock or tragedy.  I have experienced numerous accounts of shock induced S.M.S. From a horrific car accident that felt as though 3 minutes were 3 hours; I was suspended timelessly as the car rolled over, observing windscreen glass shattering like snowflakes falling and metal crushing like washing flapping softly in a breeze. SMS certainly occurred when I followed my son in a speeding ambulance on my motor bike, after being phoned to say he was on his way to emergency department.  He had been bitten three times by a dugite; believe me that was the slowest trip I have ever taken, although I am not that sure the traffic police and speedometers would have the said the same. I have had so many of these experience it would take a book to recount them. These events were tragedies at the time, but huge life lessons all the whiles. I am sure you can recall similar incidences in your own life?

Shamans, medicine men/women and many who’ve experimented with mind altering herbs and drugs, all report entering in and out of S.M.S; thankfully we don’t have to go to these extents to enter this state. Although if in the past through what ever manner you entered this state, the pathways are now opened and the more frequently they are travelled the easier it is to enter the zone. THE ROAD LESS TRAVELLED!  Resonant music and sounding has the ability to instantly transport us into the state of suspension.  There is one problem though when your mind recognizes the state it is lost; so with consistent deliberate motion it is easier to maintain. Try dancing to beautiful resonant music in sloth like slow motion, have sloth sex, eat by chewing slothfully, sitting sloth like gazing upon your garden, or watching clouds waft across the sky, all experiences become more valid and imbued with the divine and in that moment, the vale is held wide open for you. The question is do you dare enter the SLOTH PORTAL?

  • Take time each day to be slothfully in conscious deliberate slow motion, stop and breathe!
  • Take a walk in slow motion in beingness.
  • Prepare a meal in S.M.S.
  • Shower in slow motion be aware of the beauty, strength and resilience of your body.
  • Practice your yoga in long sustained sloth like motion its- bliss.
  • Write out your list of favoured guilt.
  • Honestly question how  it actually serves your awakening?
  • Examine how you actually spend your time?
  • Use a long sustain yawn for sounding stretch and release.
  • Hold long ahhhh soundings into the belly whilst sitting outside on the actual earth.  Have you hands open in a mudra of receptivity practice 15- 30 minutes sit quietly afterwards.
